It reminds visitors of Greece or a luxury cruise ship. But
what it is is a South Florida home like never seen before.
Here’s 7’s Belkys Nerey with tonight’s Luxury
Living.
(WSVN)- This one bedroom boathouse is what’s left of
the original home here.
Not so luxurious you say? Well, check this out.
Homeowner and builder, John Turchin of John Turchin Companies,
tore down the existing structure and ended up with a 13-thousand
square feet of luxury on Miami Beach’s Hibiscus Island.
John says, “I don’t want to leave my house in
the morning. I drag myself out of the house 9-10am in the
morning, go to my office, and I can’t wait to come home
at the end of the day.”
John and his wife Susan live here with their two children.
And, talk about an open floor plan, the home is six bedrooms
and seven baths but half of it including the living and dining
areas.
“I wanted to live in a house that I felt was conductive
to how we should live in South Florida, and I wanted to live
outside in the openness and open the doors all the time.”
And when you open the doors, check out the fabulous view.
The entire home is surrounded by a moat, and the pool is
spectacular.
You can enjoy it from the ground or from up above –
on one of the home’s three rooftop entertainment terraces.
“Since we didn’t have any yard, we put all the
yard space on tope of the roofs, which is normally wasted
space,” John says, “All you see are green tree
tops and you fell like you’re on the boat on top of
the roof here.”
Real sails overhead make it feel that way.
Also unique… this huge aviary…A terra cotta wine
wall…
And this outdoor bathroom, build in the shape of a seashell.
In fact, it’s made entirely of stone and seashells,
and even includes a real waterfall.
“Everything’s designed around water.” John
says. “The complete theme was designed around the sea;
you’ll see a lot of sea shells.”
Three floors of luxury, controlled by the push of a button
– now that’s something to toast to.
“I would say this is definitely luxury living,”
says John. “Barefoot luxury living.”
This house is so big the Turchin`s say they’ve been
able to party with 15-hundred of their closets friends!
The couple is moving on, though…the house is for sale
for just under 20 million dollars, fun included.
